Leading pallet stability and packaging specialist, Lindum has released an independent report into pallet stability, which includes statistics from two of its recent client success stories.
Titled ‘Pallet Stability: Costs, savings and avoiding rejected & damaged loads’, the report was independently compiled by Kirsten Tisdale, director of logistics and supply chain consultancy Aricia Limited, during July and August 2023.
In the report, Kirsten examines the scale of the problem of pallets experiencing Movement in Transit (MIT); how often it happens, what it entails, and the steps businesses can take to address it. A recent anonymous survey of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturers showed that 75% of companies surveyed were experiencing MIT at least weekly at a cost of more than a quarter of a million pounds.
Kirsten’s report details the findings of two case studies of Lindum Packaging clients who had benefited from improvements to their pallet wrap following a consultation with Lindum. The first client reported a 16% cost saving after moving to 30% recycled wrap on Lindum’s recommendation, while the second client saw an 8% saving in costs thanks to a nano stretch film from Lindum’s Carestretch range.
Lindum is uniquely positioned to test pallet stability and provide advice due to its onsite innovation centre, and a mobile pallet stability test lab, which is the first of its kind in the UK.
Kirsten says: “This wasn’t an area I’d been deeply involved with in the past, and I’ve been impressed with the approach that Lindum take and the clear benefit it provides in advising on pallet stability to help companies be more sustainable and efficient, as well as providing quality products.”
Rick Sellars, sales manager of Lindum Packaging, added: “We’re proud to be able to say we are revolutionising the way UK businesses cut plastic and CO2 through pallet wrap optimisation and improved transport stability. We were very happy to be able to work with Kirsten as she produced this report and are pleased to see her findings reflect what we strive for at Lindum.”
