Cirplus, Europe’s largest digital procurement platform for recycled plastics, is expanding its management team. Carlos Andrioli and Thomas Atwell have been appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO). These high-profile additions bring operational and technical expertise to the team alongside founder and CEO Christian Schiller for the next development phase of the Hamburg-based company.
Carlos Andrioli brings 20 years of experience as a software developer and manager and was previously Head of Engineering at Trade Republic, Europe's largest neobroker with over €34 billion in assets under management, 4 million users, and a company valuation of over €5 billion. The Brazilian native's experience in building cloud architectures, DevOps, and programming will ensure Cirplus' software quality, data integrity, and availability at the highest level as the platform continues to scale. "Cirplus offers a great opportunity to use my technical expertise in the fight against global plastic pollution. The digitalization of analogue business processes still holds significant potential here. From the start, I was excited by the combination of the company's mission and the high level of technical complexity required to achieve it,” explains Carlos Andrioli.
Thomas Atwell was previously COO at Logward, a corporate venture founded in 2018 by the global Bremen-based logistics service provider Leschaco with offices in 22 countries. The U.S. American brings deep knowledge of the logistics industry and experience in building organizations from zero to 100. After completing an MBA at IESE Business School (Barcelona), Atwell has been instrumental in growing Logward from just a few employees and customers to over 80 employees and millions in revenue over the past 4 years. "The challenges of building reliable supply chains for recycled plastics are enormous, but my experience in building Logward will help: Companies always focus on the factors of cost reduction, planning reliability, material quality, and precision in processing, ultimately simplifying the procurement process considerably. Cirplus is well on the way to leveraging enormous sustainability potential for the plastics sector through the further development of its software. I really want to play my part in this," says Thomas Atwell.
Christian Schiller, founder and CEO of the company, emphasizes: "The combination of fintech and logistics expertise that Thomas and Carlos bring to our team is crucial for the next steps of Cirplus. The fact that we have been able to attract these two top talents to our team in Hamburg is a great success and shows that an increasing number of top performers are being drawn to companies where profit and impact are not contradictory but mutually reinforcing."
