From October 1, in France, fresh vegetables and fruit weighing less than 1.5 kg cannot be packed in plastic. This is the result of the French law on the circular economy (fr. Loi AGEC).
• According to Loi AGEC, in addition to potatoes, leeks, eggplants, tomatoes, apples, bananas, oranges, pineapples and mangoes must also be packed without plastic. As part of the French anti-waste law for the circular economy, next year, the ban on plastic packaging will also apply to cocktail tomatoes, green beans and peaches. In 2024, the AGEC law will also cover chicory, asparagus, mushrooms, some salads, herbs and cherries.
• France is followed by Spain, which also prohibits the packaging of vegetables and fruit in plastic packaging. According to the announcement, the new law will enter into force in 2023 and will also apply to portions weighing less than 1.5 kg and such vegetables and fruits that can be packed in bulk without losing quality.
• The common plastic bags have been replaced by the SILBO packaging manufacturer with paper packaging with a window.
