Swedish Plastic Industry (SPIF) has awarded Emballator Innovation Center as the environmental and sustainability project of the year. Emballator wins thanks to their tests and work with recycled materials.
The Swedish Plastic Industry (SPIF) award companies in different categories. Companies are nominated in categories like raw material supplier of the year, machine supplier of the year, and the environmental and sustainability project of the year.
Emballator and their Innovation Center was nominated in the last category and was presented as the winner during an award ceremony in Malmö, Sweden. The winner was chosen by the SPIF board.
“It is an honor that our work with sustainable materials is recognized and extra inspiring for me to be in Malmö and receive this award for our team effort. At the Innovation Center we are performing trials of different recycled plastic and other sustainable materials. Innovation is an important part of our Emballator values in the Green Bag and we look forward to continuing to test recycled materials and their recyclability”, says Mats Jeppsson, Innovation Manager at Emballator Innovation Center.
A few years ago, the planning of an Innovation Center started, and the center was opened in June 2022. The Innovation Center consists of over 700 square meters of development area with process equipment for injection molding, blow molding and extrusion as well as measuring equipment for thermal and mechanical tests. The center is located in Ljungby, Sweden.
“This is a proof that our investment on recycled material is the way forward and that our investment in an Innovation Center is just right. It has been fantastic to be a part of building this with a strong support from the whole Emballator Group and our owner Herenco. We have invested a lot of money in our Innovation Center and their work is an important part of our climate strategy going forward”, says Ulf Nicklasson, CEO of Emballator Packaging Innovations.
