Atlantic Packaging is pleased to announce that company President Wes Carter has been elected to The Conservation Alliance board of directors as the company’s one year anniversary of becoming a business member of the organization approaches. The Conservation Alliance harnesses the collective power of business and outdoor communities to advocate for the protection of North America’s wild places. This includes funding grassroots environmental organizations that contribute to the long-term health of outdoor recreation while helping ensure access for future generations.
"We are thrilled to welcome Wes to The Conservation Alliance board as we continue to expand our board composition beyond the outdoor industry while elevating the role our members have in protecting wild places and stewarding land and water conservation,” said The Conservation Alliance Executive Director Nicole Rom. “Wes brings a unique skillset and background to the board, from his experience in sustainable packaging and creating a more sustainable supply chain to launching A New Earth Project, and we look forward to his contributions as board member.”
Atlantic Packaging remains committed to supporting the intelligent transition to a circular packaging supply chain and a waste-free world. With packaging accounting for more than 40 percent of plastic waste according to 2018 EPA data, Atlantic recognizes its responsibility and aims to be a catalyst for change in how the packaging industry addresses the issue of plastic pollution.
In 2022, Atlantic announced the launch of A New Earth Project, a coalition of outdoor enthusiasts, industry-leading brands, and innovative, environmentally conscious packaging suppliers committed to finding and scaling sustainable packaging solutions to stop consumer-destined single-use plastic packaging from ending up in the world’s oceans, lakes, and rivers. Founded by Carter, this coalition is supported by veterans from the surf, outdoor, media and packaging industries.
“Joining The Conservation Alliance board of directors strongly aligns with my commitment to work collaboratively with business leaders to support a healthy, sustainable supply chain that protects wild places and honors all life on our planet,” said Carter. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to being a part of The Conservation Alliance’s mission to work together to promote and expand conservation efforts on the local, national and international level.”
