Crafted in Devon, Two Drifters Distillery pride themselves on being the perfect blend of rum, science and innovation. With a unique flare for sustainability and a constant desire to improve, the not even three-year-old distillery is one to watch.
Two Drifters work on a unique philosophy that they tax themselves on carbon. Looking to create as little carbon as possible and work with carbon removal company Climeworks to capture and bury unavoidable emission release. To match such a strong sustainability ethos, the company required packaging that would live up to it.
Allied’s extensive experience and expertise in sustainable glass production made them the ideal candidate to produce a new bottle for Two Drifters.
“Allied was a delight to work with. People have absolutely loved the new bottles. Because of our new bottles and branding, we now have placement in stores like Harvey Nichols and other key accounts.”
– Gemma Wakeham, Co-Founder of Two Drifters
The goal was to create a modern and sleek design that would also be lighter than the distilleries previous bottles. This led Allied to suggest
a bottle that weighed up at 30% lighter than their previously used bottles.
Two Drifters required a bottle which would be sustainable but also appear vibrant and appeal to a younger market and this has truly been met by the partnership with Allied Glass.
In addition to the lighter weight bottle, Two Drifters colourful labelling and tamper seals are created from sugarcane fibre, utilising waste from the sugar refining process needed for rum. Nolan Kane from Allied stated: “Allied is really pleased to suppprt the Two Drifters team and are really happy that they have chosen a UK based glass manufacturer for their bottles as the sustainability credentials of the glass perfectly reflect the Two Drifters ethos.”
This bottle has been a hit since its launch and is a stunning example of sustainability and design married together.
