"We are a startup from Hanover and want to free the world from unnecessary plastic waste. We develop innovative technologies to produce sustainable packaging materials. The first of these technologies enables the production of a "paper bubble wrap" PapairWrap. It is the sustainable alternative to conventional packaging materials: it is made of 100% recycled paper, eliminating unnecessary plastic waste. It also saves CO2 emissions throughout its lifecycle compared to plastic alternatives. Overall, PapairWrap combines cost efficiency, cushioning capability, and sustainability like no other product before it, making it the sustainable alternative to traditional packaging materials. Our bubble wrap is made entirely of paper. Paper is fully recyclable and biodegrades completely within a very short time. It can be disposed of through the existing recycling system. Our most important goal is to introduce our product to the market to enable companies to avoid unnecessary plastic waste. Over time, we will develop further packaging materials and continue to expand our product portfolio.
PapairWrap is made of 100% recycled paper, which is produced locally in Germany (Lower Saxony) using an innovative and patented manufacturing process that conserves resources. It will be offered as roll goods in various widths and will also be the basis for other packaging materials such as shipping bags, shipping boxes, etc. No plastics or adhesives are used, so it is a mono-material with the best recycling properties. As part of further product development, we are working on additional functionalities and surface finishes to open further application possibilities.
Conventional plastic padding materials are often not pure materials. Recycling via a closed-loop system cannot be reliably guaranteed due to the diversity of plastic types. Plastic waste pollutes the environment if it does not find its way into a closed material cycle. Nevertheless, sustainable packaging alternatives to date have not succeeded in replacing conventional packaging materials. These are too cost-intensive or require a large volume to achieve an adequate cushioning effect.
With our technology, the paper webs are embossed using a matrix-patrix process and then disposed with each other using heat and pressure. The process we have developed makes it possible to eliminate the need for synthetics or adhesives. This means that our PapairWrap is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. Thanks to its two-layer structure, PapairWrap has better cushioning properties than the competition's common alternative while being significantly smaller in volume. Smaller packaging units in turn reduce shipping costs.
The current market consists of few comparable products, such as corrugated board, paper air pillows or cushioning paper. PapairWrap can clearly compete against these products thanks to its flexibility, cushioning properties, price and environmental friendliness.
The awareness of sustainability both in the industry and among consumers is there. With PapairWrap, we offer companies in B2B a comprehensive solution on the way to a sustainable supply chain. For the end consumer, PapairWrap provides a positive customer experience, as the desire for sustainable shipping without oversized volume and with sustainable cushioning material is increasing. Disposal via the functioning closed-loop system guarantees almost 100% recycling of PapairWrap."
