Sustainable insulated packaging pioneer Woolcool® is celebrating after once again being recognised as one of the UK’s Best Places to Work by The Sunday Times.
The award, in partnership with leading employee experience platform WorkL, marks the second consecutive year the Staffordshire-based business has received the prestigious national recognition, highlighting Woolcool®’s continued commitment to creating a positive, inclusive and empowering workplace culture.
For Woolcool®, the recognition represents far more than an award. It reflects the people-first ethos that has helped shape the company into a globally recognised leader in sustainable temperature-controlled packaging and the first packaging company of its kind to achieve B Corp certification.
To be recognised once was a proud achievement, but securing a place on the list for a second-year running is a milestone the company describes as “truly special.”
The award, comes off the back of the Stone based company announcing it had also won a coveted King’s Award for International Trade earlier this year. It had previously received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation in 2018 and the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development four years later in 2022.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Work survey, powered by WorkL, assesses organisations through employee engagement feedback across six key areas: Reward & Recognition, Instilling Pride, Information Sharing, Empowerment, Wellbeing and Job Satisfaction. The award recognises organisations where employees feel genuinely engaged, appreciated and able to thrive.
Woolcool® which celebrates its 25th birthday this year has long believed that businesses can and should be a force for good. While the company is widely known for pioneering natural wool insulated packaging solutions for the food and pharmaceutical sectors, it is equally passionate about ensuring its employees feel valued, supported and empowered to grow.
The company continues to invest significantly in employee development through opportunities including NVQs, Health & Safety training, FLT certifications and degree programmes, alongside wider personal development initiatives focused on Mental Health awareness, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and Carbon Literacy training.
Woolcool® also offers a range of initiatives designed to support employee wellbeing and work-life balance, including flexible working, birthday holidays, additional holiday schemes, a cycle to work programme, team events and the company’s Woolcool® rewards initiative.
Josie Morris, CEO of Woolcool®, said:
