With the linerless label market growing at 4.4% annually, global printing technologies expert, TSC Auto ID, has just launched a longer-lasting cutter module for its DA Series of desktop barcode label printers, designed to improve cutting precision and minimise paper jams. The enhanced module is a more rugged version of its standard cutter module and can be fitted to either the DA 210 or 220 devices, or the antimicrobial-coated DA 220/230HC printers used in healthcare environments.
“The linerless revolution is being driven, in part, by the need for more sustainable labelling solutions but mainly because of its versatility; it allows people to print labels of different lengths without having to change rolls,” says Bob Vines, TSC Auto ID’s Country Manager for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics. “This time-saving benefit, along with being able to print 50-60% more labels per roll, makes linerless a really attractive proposition for fast-paced industries such as food and drink, ecommerce, logistics and pharmaceutical.
“But keeping linerless printers free of adhesive residue build-up is critical for effective operation and we’re always developing solutions that minimise downtime and aid cleaning and maintenance. Our sturdy new cutter module is our latest innovation, and it promises longer cutting life, consistent performance and less downtime in high volume printing environments,” suggests Bob.
Cutter modules are designed to automatically size linerless labels as they’re being produced and TSC will offer its enhanced module alongside its standard cutter module and tear option. All TSC’s linerless printers have a lock sensor, upper blade protector and lower blade auto-ejection for safer and easier cleaning. They’re also fitted with platen rollers with special non-stick surfaces to reduce points of contact through the printing path, minimising adhesive residue on printheads and cutters, and preventing paper jams. TSC’s linerless cleaning kit enables users to clean the printer and cutter in just five minutes thereby maximising uptime and maintaining performance. Cleaning is recommended every 1km of linerless printing.
