TNT GROUP, a renowned expert in metal craftsmanship and a pioneer in zamak innovation, has taken a significant step forward by filing a patent for its groundbreaking technology: anodized injected aluminum with a responsible glossy finish.
This advancement seamlessly combines aesthetics, tactile appeal, functionality, durability, and recyclability, as it is fully compatible with standard household sorting streams. It opens up exciting new opportunities for luxury houses – from beauty to wines and spirits – seeking to merge creative excellence with environmental responsibility. By bringing together the benefits of metal injection and anodized finishing, TNT GROUP continues to push the boundaries of responsible luxury.
A Heritage of Metal Expertise: TNT GROUP has built its reputation on zamak, a noble material celebrated for its density and cool touch, lending packaging unmatched presence and durability. Today, its premium and original creations are produced with more than 30% recycled zamak, aligned with a virtuous circular economy approach.
TNT GROUP had already invested in the development of cold-compressed aluminum parts for prestigious clients such as Chanel and L’Artisan Parfumeur. This technology offered a lighter alternative to zamak, leveraging a widely available metal from the food industry and benefiting from significant volumes that facilitate access to established global collection and recycling streams. However, the shapes of these pieces remained limited to simple, symmetrical structures achieved through machining.
Anodized Injected Aluminum : The newly patent-pending technology of injected aluminum with anodized glossy finishing removes the constraints associated with zamak or cold-compressed aluminum. It offers greater design flexibility, as many metal finishes as anodization allows, weight reduction compared to zamak while preserving a premium hand-feel, and full compatibility with household recycling streams.
The complementarity of zamak, cold-compressed aluminum, and the new anodized injected aluminum broadens the range of solutions available to brands, enabling them to adapt material choices to intended use, desired consumer experience, and ESG objectives.
To support these decisions, TNT GROUP, ISO 14067 certified, has launched Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies to compare, for an identical project, the environmental impact of each option. This provides clients with transparent and measurable data to guide material and technology decisions. An LCA has already been completed comparing recycled zamak with first-melt zamak. Further studies will extend to cold-compressed aluminum by the end of 2025 and to anodized injected aluminum in 2026.
With this innovation, TNT GROUP reaffirms its ability to transform all metals, combining engineering, industrial know-how, technical performance, and environmental commitment to serve prestige and luxury brands. The first projects are already under study and in industrial testing phases.
