The recent edition of Interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf once again reaffirmed the packaging industry’s role as a key driver of the global economy. For Barcelona Packaging Hub, this event represented not only an opportunity for international visibility, but also the consolidation of our ecosystem as a benchmark in advanced engineering, real sustainability, and complete line solutions.
After an intense week of activity, Hub associates return with a highly positive balance, marked by the presentation of disruptive innovations addressing today’s major industry challenges: the transition to monomaterials, high-speed automation, and smart traceability.
Below, we highlight the technological milestones and solutions presented by our associate companies during the exhibition.
Technical innovation: efficiency and adaptability in every process
Commitment to production line optimization was the common denominator among the innovations showcased at this international packaging trade fair.
Posimat introduced a new compact, fully automatic bottle unscrambler. This solution eliminates operator intervention and ensures maximum container quality by removing recirculation, delivering superior operational efficiency in reduced footprint environments.
In the flexible packaging segment, Synchropack unveiled a complete redesign of its high-end machinery range. The new design is built around sustainability, preparing equipment for processing paper and recyclable materials, as well as ergonomic excellence, improving accessibility and cleanability to maximize process safety.
Mengibar reinforced its leadership in filling technology with the presentation of a high-precision rotary filler designed for foamy and viscous products. The machine features a laminar flow nozzle system and a hygiene-oriented design (360º CIP), enabling tool-free format changes while ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
Sustainability and high speed: the new industry standards
Responding to the growing demand for higher production capacity at Interpack 2026, Effytec officially launched the GPIC-HS, a high-speed model capable of reaching up to 200 sachets per minute. This technology expands production limits for formats up to two liters and is specifically engineered to run monomaterial structures, now a key requirement in the market.
In the same spirit of flexibility, Volpak introduced a “freedom of choice” approach for manufacturers. The company showcased a new hybrid solution capable of producing pouches from both reel-fed film and preformed formats, alongside an extension of its Fill & Seal family. All platforms have been optimized for circular economy criteria, reducing changeover times and minimizing the carbon footprint at plant level.
In advanced packaging technology, INVpack presented its new development integrating AI into packaging machinery. Live demonstrations of LUMO, an intelligent assistant designed to transform plant operations and enhance technical team autonomy, were conducted during the exhibition. The company also introduced its upgraded SP12 stick pack model, capable of reaching up to 750 units per minute, and the MVA4 EVO for 4-side-seal sachets, engineered to guarantee maximum reliability in high-output environments.
TMI presented its new ILERBAG HF, a high-speed bagging machine for fine granular products in plastic bags from tubular film. The technical team emphasized its performance, reliability, and robustness as an efficient solution for demanding packaging processes.
Integration and traceability: the Complete Line Vision
Load security and end-of-line logistics were central themes for Movitec. Within the Mosca Group ecosystem, the company showcased integrated solutions for load stability. Its comprehensive portfolio of stretch wrapping and strapping systems enables customers to obtain a single, coherent solution for cargo securing.
In the end-of-line segment and sector expansion strategy, Xolertic presented itself at Interpack as a consolidated global company. It highlighted the execution of complex international projects and announced its strategic entry into the pharmaceutical sector, transferring its automation expertise to the strict standards of the healthcare industry.
Digitalization and regulatory compliance took center stage at United Barceode Systems. The company emphasized the urgency of the GS1 Sunrise 2027 initiative and presented high-quality inkjet solutions prepared for the transition from traditional barcodes to 2D codes, enabling companies to seamlessly integrate full traceability and digitalization into their existing processes.
The strategic value of our technology partners at Interpack 2026
The presence of the Barcelona Packaging Hub at Interpack 2026 also featured the active participation of its strategic technology partners. Companies such as B&R, Balluff, HepcoMotion, Bosch Rexroth, COPA-DATA, Murrelektronik, Omron, Schneider Electric, and SMC were part of the Hub’s ecosystem at the trade fair, reinforcing its positioning as a leading industrial platform.
Their involvement within the Hub environment at Interpack highlights the strength of its collaborative model, where machinery manufacturers and technology partners share a common vision, quality standards, and an innovation-driven approach aligned with Industry 5.0. The integration of advanced automation, intelligent sensing, motion control, connectivity, and energy efficiency consolidates a coherent technological value proposition, fully prepared to address the challenges of the future of packaging.
A future-oriented ecosystem at Interpack 2026
The coordinated participation at Interpack 2026 demonstrates that Barcelona Packaging Hub is far more than the sum of its members. It is an industrial ecosystem where collaboration between manufacturers and technology partners enables the delivery of solutions that a single supplier could hardly achieve alone.
From the Hub, we extend our gratitude to all clients, partners, and visitors who attended the stands. This edition of Interpack not only closes successfully, but also marks the beginning of a new stage of innovation and growth for packaging machinery designed and manufactured in Barcelona.
