Premium water brand Wenlock Spring has received high praise from judges after winning an award recognising the quality of its products and commitment to sustainability in the vending sector.
The family-run business won Best Sustainable Product in this year’s Vendies Awards at a ceremony held in London.
The accolade recognises the company’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, responsible sourcing, and innovation in sustainable packaging – all while delivering great-tasting, high-quality spring water.
The award specifically highlighted Wenlock Spring’s fully-recyclable PET bottles and aluminium cans which it provides for the sector.
The Vendies are a benchmark of excellence in the vending industry, celebrating outstanding contributions from businesses and individuals who are shaping the future of the sector.
The judging panel praised Wenlock Spring, stating: “This is an excellent set of products with a great story behind it and true commitment to the environment. All in all, it’s an impressive total business commitment to sustainability by Wenlock Spring.”
Wenlock Spring’s sustainability strategy is driven by a deep-rooted respect for the land and water it depends on.
From sourcing water in a protected natural spring in the Shropshire Hills – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – to pioneering the use of fully-recyclable glass, PET bottles and aluminium cans, the company has set new standards in the beverage industry.
Its environmental initiatives include:
- 741 solar panels cutting emissions by 175 tonnes annually
- Biomass boilers reducing energy consumption by 24%
- 35 acres of Miscanthus biofuel grass absorbing more than 1,000 tonnes of CO₂
- 1,700 trees planted to strengthen biodiversity and capture carbon
- Recyclable and lightweight packaging to reduce raw material usage
