Plastic accounts for more than 85 percent of marine litter, with levels expected to triple by 2040. To help reduce plastic packaging waste, JBM Packaging created EcoView™, a new, plastic-free, windowed paper package line. Engineered to give businesses an alternative to "poly" film packages made from non-renewable resources, EcoView features Fiberfilm™, a clear biodegradable film made from wood and cottonseed fibers.
At the center of each EcoView package is Fiberfilm, JBM's proprietary transparent film developed from PEFC-certified wood pulp that offers visibility and protection. Certified by TÜV to meet stringent environmental regulatory standards, Fiberfilm is guaranteed to biodegrade in natural, freshwater environments. It is made from diacetate and does not compromise the integrity of the recycling stream, ensuring that the entire EcoView package can be recycled in curbside recycling programs.
EcoView offers three different sizes of windows, including the sneak peek, partial view, and full display. Each size offers customers a clear, protected product view of varying degrees while also providing additional space for branding and messaging. In addition, all EcoView packages can be specially designed using papers with varying percentages of recycled content to meet sustainability goals. Further customization options include different papers, types of closures, and hanging holes, allowing brands to develop a truly unique, one-of-a-kind package.
This packaging design provides an alternative to polypropylene film that can end up in the natural environment. For example, Scientific Anglers, a popular manufacturer of fly fishing equipment, wanted to make sure that its packaging didn't pollute the waterways where its customers fished. JBM's EcoView product prevents the potential for plastic packaging waste that can be left behind.
