The Berry Global stand (D02-11) at this year’s Scanpack exhibition in Gothenburg will showcase the company’s ability to deliver tailored solutions across a huge range of end-markets to help companies deliver on their sustainability commitments and goals.
The wide variety of products on display demonstrate the many options available in the achieving of circularity, including packs that can be reused and easily recycled, that allow the incorporation of recycled plastic and renewable materials in the production mix, and which are lightweighted and offer improved recyclability.
In addition, Jamie Riley, Berry Global CPI’s Sustainability Lead, will give two in-depth presentations on all three days of the exhibition on the latest developments in recycled plastic and the key requirements and implications of the forthcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
“We know that sustainability is the major driving force for companies in all their packaging developments but, at the same time, considerations such as functionality, consumer convenience, and aesthetics and branding also remain essential requirements,” said Philip Ekman, Berry’s Sales Director, Nordic.
“Scanpack provides an excellent opportunity to focus on the many ways we can support our customers in the creation of packaging solutions across a diverse range of markets, including food and beverage, foodservice, beauty and wellness, and specialities, all of which deliver on every level as the world continues to transition to a circular economy.”
Highlights on the stand include Berry’s new range of reusable cups, which have been shortlisted for a Packnorth 2024 award; food and non-food containers with recycled plastic and enhanced recyclability; an innovative new lightweight food closure; a customisable high-impact standard bottle for personal care, homecare and healthcare products; and Berry’s high-quality CleanStream® recycled plastic for contact sensitive applications.
Berry’s new range of reusable cups meets increasing demand for alternative solutions to single-use packaging. Ideal for both on-site and takeaway requirements, they combine reusability with a premium quality feel and high-impact branding opportunities. They are dishwasher safe, lightweight but exceptionally durable, and can be recycled when they finally reach their end of life, where appropriate recycling facilities exist.
The wide choice of containers available for food and non-food use include initiatives such as lightweighting, the incorporation of recycled plastic, and the inclusion of robust plastic handles, which provides a mono-material pack solution for easier recycling.
The Politainer, from Berry’s Blow Moulding Specialities division, offers a safe and effective transportation solution for products such as inks, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, foods, and cosmetics. The polyethylene container held within a sturdy cardboard outer allows almost complete evacuation of the container while preventing air from entering. It delivers an up to 75% plastic weight reduction compared to a rigid plastic container of similar capacity. In addition, empty packs are shipped flat packed with one full truck of empty Politainers equating up to eight full trucks of rigid containers, reducing costs and minimising waste to help optimise supply chain efficiency.
Berry’s new Sava Flip Top for sauces, dressings and spreads, features a lightweight design that maintains a robust construction. The valve version provides no-spill and non-drip dispensing, with a variety of orifice sizes and styles to suit different product characteristics.
The new Chameleon bottle enables fast and affordable high-impact customisation at low Minimum Order Quantities for personal care, homecare, and healthcare products. The base section is available in ten standard textured finishes or can be bespoke designed. The upper part can also be tailored with different closures, sprays and pumps, while a choice of colours (which can be matched to customers’ branding), and a wide decoration area for printing or labelling, provide additional flexibility.
CleanStream® is Berry’s proprietary process, which identifies and separates food use items from mixed domestic collections to produce mechanically recycled, high-quality recycled polypropylene, which is suitable for contact sensitive applications in markets such as beauty and personal care.
The Berry stand is D02-11. Jamie Riley’s presentations take place daily at 11.00 (Recycled Plastic) and 13.00 (PPWR).
