With FSC® certification of its sites in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, the STI Group ensures transparent and traceable processes throughout the entire production chain in Asia.
In addition to its group-wide EcoVadis Platinum rating, the STI Group ensures that its Asian sites meet sustainability standards equivalent to those of its European operations. With FSC® certification for STI Asia Pacific Ltd. in Hong Kong and STI POS Solutions (Shenzhen) Ltd. in China, seamless documentation across the entire supply and value chain is now also ensured for packaging and POS solutions from Asia.
Achieving this milestone required the introduction of uniform processes and standards across the international supplier network. “True sustainability does not stop at Europe’s borders,” says Thomas Eisenacher, General Manager Asia Pacific at the STI Group. “We have been using certified materials exclusively for many years; however, this alone did not fully meet our ambitions. What matters is complete traceability – and we can now ensure this consistently across our Asian network. Together with our EcoVadis Platinum rating, this sends a strong message to our customers and partners worldwide: we deliver the same high standard on every continent.”
The importance of internationally recognised sustainability standards continues to grow in the Asian market, on both the customer and supplier sides. FSC® certification of the Hong Kong and Shenzhen sites reflects this development and establishes transparent, traceable processes throughout the entire production chain. The STI Group has been using FSC®-certified materials since 2009. Today, 84% of the virgin and recycled fibre materials used across its seven production sites originate from FSC®- or PEFC-certified sources.
