AMMEGA Group, a global provider of belting solutions for conveying and power transmission, released its 2024 Sustainability Report detailing progress toward the company’s environmental, social, and governance objectives, as well as the implementation of the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles. Honoring a commitment to building a more resilient, balanced, and future-proof industrial ecosystem, AMMEGA has diverted more than 179 tonnes of waste material from landfill, turning it into new belts.
Incorporating repurposed waste and alternative bio-based inputs is a significant measure AMMEGA took to reduce resource consumption in product design between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. The company’s strides in sustainability were awarded with a EcoVadis Gold Medal for sustainability achievement attributed to their diligent efforts in product innovation:
- AMMDurance belt range, manufactured from rPET fabric blend, features a whisper weave fabric technology which removes the potential buildup of materials and significantly lowers the amount of friction. Compared to traditional synthetic belt production, AMMDurance rPET reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 70%.
- MegaSync™ Titanium, a power transmission solution, offers an average 5% energy saving, when replacing standard V-belts. The titanium also provides up to 50% more power capacity than traditional synchronous belts, enabling potential reductions to the belt width.
The report also details companywide progress in initiatives to introduce more sustainable products, improve circularity, and support greater diversity and employee engagement. Over the reported period, AMMEGA decreased Scope 1 emissions by 4% from 2023. The company also increased energy efficiency at one Netherlands facility by 50%.
“AMMEGA has set very ambitious goals, striving for a 50% reduction in CO₂ intensity by 2035, compared to 2019,” said Tom Doring, President of Americas at AMMEGA. “While we celebrate this progress, we know there is more work to do. Our team remains grounded in our accomplishments and committed to our goals for continued improvement.”
AMMEGA’s increased focus on people, including workplace safety, diversity and belonging, and employee health has resulted in a notable 65% decrease in reported lost time injuries since 2019. Initiatives such as “BE Aware, ACT Responsibly, and STAY Safe” have maximized impact on employee health and safety. Their approach embraces diversity on all levels, with employees in over 40 countries with 25% of leadership being women. Career-focused programs such as “Leadership Espresso Training” promote not only individual progress but also betterment of the team.
“Environmental and social progress are vital to our strategy to become the local belting partner of choice globally," said Maciej Gwóźdź, CEO of AMMEGA. “Our team has yet again shown resilience and commitment to the UN's Global Compact and principles of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption."
AMMEGA recently hosted their bi-annual Belting Technology Conference, highlighting partnerships, customer-centric solutions, and product innovation with an emphasis on efficiency, productivity, and worker safety. The company’s Built American Proud initiative emphasizes local manufacturing, job creation, and the strengthening of sustainable supply chains throughout the United States. This approach has created opportunities for over 1,000 U.S. employees across five manufacturing facilities, three fabrication sites, 14 warehouses, and eight customer solutions centers, shortening lead times and shipping distances for U.S. customers.
