For millions of people, even simple tasks such as opening a jar can be a daily challenge. Sonoco’s Orbit packaging solution has now received the Swedish Rheumatism Association’s Easy to use certification, confirming through independent user testing that it is easy and accessible to use, even for those with reduced hand strength and dexterity.
Sonoco's packaging solution, Orbit, has been certified as Easy to use by the Swedish Rheumatism Association following extensive user testing. The certification confirms that the product meets high standards of usability and accessibility for people with reduced hand function.
Orbit was developed with the aim of creating packaging that is simple and safe to use for as many consumers as possible. Through the Swedish Rheumatism Association's independent testing process, the product was evaluated by individuals with varying levels of hand strength and dexterity, providing unique third-party verification of its ease of use.
- Better packaging should enable better lives, and that starts with putting people at the heart of its design. Something as simple as opening a jar should never become a barrier. It is not only a matter of convenience, but of independence. From the very beginning, Sonoco set out to create a packaging solution that would make everyday life easier and more accessible for as many people as possible. Receiving the independent Easy to use certification from the Swedish Rheumatism Association for our Orbit vacuum closure is therefore particularly meaningful to us. It confirms that Orbit is not simply a good idea in principle, but a solution that genuinely works and can make a difference in people’s everyday lives.
We are very grateful to everyone who took part in the testing and shared their experience. And to all our customers already choosing Orbit to make their products easier to open for millions of consumers, we strongly encourage you to contact the association to make that certification visible to consumers directly on your pack, while also supporting the important work the Association does every day for people living with arthritis and reduced hand function, says Isabelle Le Graët Communication and Customer Experience Manager - Sonoco Metal Packaging EMEA.
For people living with arthritis or other impairments affecting hand function, everyday tasks such as opening a package can present significant challenges. The Swedish Rheumatism Association's certification helps consumers identify products that are easier to use while encouraging companies to develop more inclusive solutions.
-Through our Easy to use test and certification, we aim to highlight products that make everyday life easier for people with reduced hand function. Our test is conducted by real people with reduced hand-function and what works for them also works very well for all consumers, says Stina Nordström, Secretary General of the Swedish Rheumatism Association.
