EcoVadis places Kiefel among the top 25% of companies.
Kiefel has reached another milestone on the way to more sustainable business processes: The world’s largest provider of sustainability ratings, EcoVadis, has awarded the company, consisting of the Freilassing-based KIEFEL GmbH with subsidiaries in Micheldorf (Austria) and Sprang-Capelle (Netherlands), a silver medal in the overall ranking. This places the mechanical engineering company for thermoforming and joining technology among the most sustainable 25% of all companies audited by EcoVadis and even among the top 10% of the industry.

Sustainability at Kiefel
The evaluation was boosted by the good working conditions at Kiefel, safety and health protection, energy saving measures and environmental protection as well as actions to avoid corruption and information security. The company increased its overall rating compared to the initial certification last year.
“We aim to exploit sustainability potentials even more efficiently with our innovations and, in particular, to support our customers on their way to increasingly sustainable solutions. We would like to offer you the ideal complete solution for your application from a single source.” says Halletz. To this end, all materials, technologies and processes must be continuously optimized and made even more resource-efficient. The ceaseless expansion of materials expertise, most recently through thermoforming of natural fibers in addition to conventional, bio-based or recycled plastics, is part of this effort. In addition, Kiefel has launched a joint sustainability strategy together with the other Brückner group companies and published the first sustainability report this month. Certification indicates the areas in which improvements are still possible, and Kiefel would like to continue to tackle these step by step.
About the certification
The EcoVadis certification is based on an extensive questionnaire on the four categories of “Environment”, “Labour and human rights”, “Ethics” and “Sustainable procurement”. Only adequately documented responses and data are included in the assessment. The results are presented on a scorecard and can be shared with customers. According to the provider, they already certify more than 90,000 companies in over 175 countries in a wide variety of industries worldwide.
