Anthony Hornsby, partnerships and communications manager at Sherbourne Recycling, discussed the critical role of AI and technology in accelerating progress towards a more circular economy at the Packaging Innovations exhibition (11-12 February at the NEC).
Hornsby joined the ‘Connecting the value chain – technologies at the sorting line helping to close the recycling gap’ panel discussion, alongside representatives from Ocado and Greyparrot. The session examined how innovation is closing the recycling gap and how data is being used to meet waste legislation.
As part of the session, Hornsby and the panel discussed how legislation is unlocking opportunities for the supply chain; the use of data in driving efficiencies and tackling hard to recycle items; and how AI is helping to optimise the value of waste.
Commenting on the event, Hornsby said: “Packaging Innovations provided a fascinating platform to discuss the industry’s most pressing issues. A key topic of discussion was the importance of collaboration in adapting to the shifting regulatory landscape and opening possibilities for genuine circularity.
“I’m pleased to have contributed to the session and shared insight from Sherbourne Recycling regarding how we’re using technology to drive the industry forward.”
Packaging Innovations brought together brands, retailers, designers, suppliers and manufacturers from across the packaging supply chain to share knowledge, insight and best practice.
