- The Group returns to the international fruit and vegetable sector event to showcase its innovations on sustainable packaging
- The new solutions enable packaging circularity, savings for the Company’s customers and product customisation
The Saica Group will once again participate in Fruit Attraction, the Fruit and Vegetable Sector Trade Fair, which takes place at the IFEMA Madrid exhibition centre from 4th to 6th October. At this important international event, two of the Company’s business units, Saica Pack and Saica Flex, will present their innovations on sustainable packaging.
Saica Pack will be exhibiting several innovative packaging propositions: Saica Seal, its corrugated cardboard tray with a flexible lid, an alternative packaging solution to the current options on the market for fruit and vegetables, which provides greater rigidity, thanks to its 100% recyclable corrugated cardboard base; Saica Skin, the packaging that consists of a 100% recycled corrugated cardboard tray and 2 pieces of flexible plastic; Saica Micerinos, the agricultural tray that, thanks to the robustness of its pyramidal design, withstands the fatigue produced in the packaging throughout its life cycle; and the Expandable Tray. All of them are innovative packaging options that Saica has developed based on the needs detected in the distribution brands of fruit and vegetable products.
Saica Flex also brings to IFEMA its new flexible packaging innovations, such as Grouping Bands; the new PAPERFLEX HPPS self-adhesive grouping bands, a sustainable alternative for the grouping of fruit and vegetables. Composed of a moisture-resistant base paper and a pressure-sensitive adhesive, it allows the band to adhere to the product and close on itself, obtaining a robust and durable product grouping, even in conditions of high humidity. In addition, Paperflex PLU self-adhesive labels also offer high moisture resistance and high adhesion for fresh produce labelling.
With its presence at Fruit Attraction, the Saica Group will show its continued commitment to sustainability in the packaging sector and its strong investment in innovation, in this particular case focused on the preservation of fresh food.
With its new sustainable packaging solutions, Saica Group customers also achieve economic savings since in some cases the plastic tax does not apply to them. Furthermore, they have the capacity to customise packaging, thanks to the ability to print on the material used. Located at stand 7D11, in Hall 7 of IFEMA, the Saica Group will have a modern and attractive exhibition space, which will house representatives from across the Group and welcome delegates interested in learning about Saica’s variety of sustainable and personalised offerings.
Fruit Attraction is the Fruit and Vegetable Sector fair par excellence. Organised by IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX, its capacity to promote the sector’s worldwide exports makes it the commercial connection point for the range of professionals who make up the value chain of the fruit and vegetable market, as well as being a showcase for innovation. It brings together the whole sector, in both the fresh produce area and the auxiliary industry area. It has a digital platform, Fruit Attraction LIVEConnect, which, based on artificial intelligence, has been designed to become a meeting point, generating contacts and business opportunities for the entire fruit and vegetable community. The fair also hosts the Innovation Hub Awards, an event considered fundamental for supporting entrepreneurship in the sector.
