SCHREINER GROUP
The Robust RFID-Label from Schreiner MediPharm reliably protects the integrated chip against mechanical stress and permanently enables dependable functionality.
Schreiner MediPharm, a leading developer and manufacturer of innovative functional labels for the healthcare industry, and HERMA, an expert in labelling machines, are concentrating their expertise for an integrated RFID labelling solution. The combination of particularly robust RFID-Labels and precision labelling technology enables a high level of process stability and reliable results even in high-speed applications of the pharmaceutical industry. At interpack in Düsseldorf, the joint solution for vial labelling will be presented live for the first time.
RFID and NFC technologies are gaining increasing importance in the pharmaceutical industry, such as for automated medication management, traceability, tamper evidence, and digitalization of processes. At the same time, exacting demands are imposed on the mechanical resilience of the integrated chips, protection against chip breakage, and precision and stability in the labelling process. In view of these requirements, Schreiner MediPharm and HERMA have developed a coordinated total solution that systematically addresses these challenges.
Schreiner MediPharm’s Robust RFID-Labels feature a unique design: Thanks to a special construction that protects the integrated RFID chip, the labels excel in terms of very high resistance against mechanical stress and impacts. The Robust RFID-Labels are suitable even for containers with narrow radii such as vials or syringes and enable easy application in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The RFID functionality remains assured from production to final use, and the RFID-Label can be reliably read at any time. In combination with HERMA’s process-optimized labelling technology that is specifically designed for material protection, the result is a system enabling reliable RFID integration even in the case of challenging applications and high cycle rates.
Tests on HERMA’s wrap-around labelling machine 132M HC, developed for the pharmaceutical industry, show that the breakage rate of the label-integrated RFID chips practically tends toward zero, whereas clearly higher failure rates may occur with conventional standard labels. The joint system solution will be presented in a live demonstration for the first time at interpack in Düsseldorf from May 7 to 13. At Booth D72-3 in Hall 16, HERMA, as part of the joint Packaging Valley presentation, is going to showcase a specially configured labeling machine on which Schreiner MediPharm’s Robust RFID-Labels will be applied to vials under realistic production conditions. The demonstration will provide visitors with practical insights into the performance capabilities of the integrated solution for industrial RFID labeling in the pharmaceutical sector, providing proof of the fact that RFID solutions can be realized in reliable and economical ways.
