"At BioPak, we repurpose sugarcane pulp, or 'bagasse', a byproduct of sugarcane harvesting, to create a range of eco-friendly food service packaging options that are renewable, sturdy, and microwave, oven, and freezer-friendly. The bagasse-based products blend the pulp with water and additives to enhance their properties and then press them at high temperatures to create a range of sustainable containers, coffee cup lids, cold drink lids, sauce containers, and cutlery. Using plant-based materials reduces our carbon footprint and provides a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging.
To further improve our sustainability, we're committed to continuously improving our products and removing harmful additives, such as PFAS, from our bagasse packaging wherever possible. We're working to develop alternative options that can replace PFAS while still providing the same level of functionality and usability.
Our dedication to sustainable packaging extends to designing universal lids for our coffee cups, cold cups, and containers. Our lid design eliminates the need for multiple lid sizes, reducing waste generated from mismatched lids and cups. We have lids that fit our 8oz cups and a large lid that fits our 12 to 16 oz coffee cups. We apply this same thinking to our cold cup lids and our food container lids. This innovation simplifies the packaging process and reduces inventory and storage requirements for businesses, freeing up valuable space and reducing their environmental footprint.
Our commitment to reducing waste through innovative design and sustainable materials is a testament to our dedication to creating a better future. The universal lid design is just one of many steps we have taken towards reducing waste and promoting sustainability in the food service industry."
