Quantum Polymers is proud to announce that it has become the first South African manufacturer of adhesives to the food packaging industry to achieve ISO 22000 certification for its manufacturing facility, the internationally recognised standard for food safety management systems.
This milestone underscores Quantum Polymers’ commitment to providing contaminant-free, food-safe adhesives across a broad range of packaging formats. The certification complements the company’s existing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations, reaffirming its leadership in quality, environmental responsibility, and now food safety.
Quantum Polymers is a family-owned, medium-sized company based in Durban, South Africa. With decades of experience and a reputation for responsiveness and innovation, the business has grown to become a trusted supplier across the food packaging sector.
“Our customers in the food and beverage industry require the highest levels of compliance. Achieving ISO 22000 was not just about ticking a box, it was about taking responsibility for what ends up on consumers’ tables,” said Vino Parumaul, Managing Director of Quantum Polymers.
Quantum Polymers’ ISO 22000 journey included upgrading internal processes, staff training, and stringent validation of hygiene controls across its Durban manufacturing facility. The company worked closely with certification auditors and food industry partners to meet the rigorous requirements of the standard.
“This certification provides our customers with peace of mind,” Parumaul added. “Whether they are sealing sugar bags, assembling food cartons and boxes, or packaging pet foods, they know our adhesives are produced in a facility that meets the strictest food safety controls.”
The achievement also sets a new industry benchmark in South Africa. Quantum Polymers is inviting customers, packaging converters, and food producers to engage with its technical and quality teams to explore how ISO 22000-certified adhesives can strengthen their supply chain compliance.
