Three years since becoming a B Corporation, beauty packaging manufacturer and provider Quadpack is proud to renew its certification. With the aim of using business as a force for good, the company continues to implement and promote sustainable practices, driving the beauty industry’s eco-transition as part of both the B Beauty Coalition and the now 10,000-strong community of B Corps worldwide. The recertification assessment showed improvements across the board. As a result, its initial score of 82 rose to 106, elevating it into the top tier.
Caring for people
Notable improvements were made in the area of people. All workers on the payroll now receive a fair living wage, maintaining payment levels at 20% above minimum wage in nearly all of the company’s locations. Health, wellness and safety initiatives were rolled out across offices and factories. The gender wage gap dropped to 8.9%, while women’s average hourly earnings increased by 6.6% (year-end 2024). Quadpack’s DEI&B (diversity, equity, inclusivity and belonging) plan entrenched standards for greater equality. In general, the company enjoyed greater employee engagement and satisfaction since the first review.
Caring for the environment
As Quadpack seeks to lower its environmental impact, a custom, AI-powered tool has been deployed for live carbon data capture and monitoring of waste and water usage. Aplanet is one of the ways the company is moving to a data-based approach to sustainability. Quadpack also maintains its continuous focus on certified sourcing of raw materials, notably wood (FSC and PEFC).
Caring for customers
Quadpack’s priority is to inspire and support customers. It accompanies them from initial eco-design, to complete recovery plans regarding materials, waste management and other end-of-life aspects. Life-cycle assessments are available for every product in the catalogue to calculate Scope 3 carbon emissions. Moreover, the company now maintains sustainability ‘master data’, containing entire life-cycle data of actual products sold and supplied to customers. These are based on weight-based calculations, with end of life analysed according to the destination country’s facilities.
Caring for the community
Beyond its own industrial operations, Quadpack actively manages its supply chain to ensure sustainable and ethical practices. Suppliers are onboarded to help them comply with requirements. These include EcoVadis and/or Sedex, ISO 14001 (environmental management), 9001 (quality management) and 45001 (OH&S) certifications, as well as any relevant third-party certification, such as BDP or ISCC. Centralised sustainability data is held on suppliers, subject to regular updates and a yearly audit.
