Prowrap has unveiled an exciting plan to cut waste across the foodservice industry with its revolutionary dispenser recycling scheme.
The scheme will see Prowrap working with its distributor partners to collect old, broken, or unwanted wrapping dispensers – of any brand or model – from businesses. Prowrap will then recycle as much of the dispenser as possible and work with a UK partner to reuse parts across the Prowrap group dispenser range. Each customer that returns a dispenser will receive a promotional offer to redeem against the Speedwrap Pro Dispenser refill range
Jon Crowley, CEO at Prowrap was delighted to launch the scheme, saying, “Wrapping dispensers help to prevent waste by minimising the amount of material used. However, many dispensers can themselves become waste, ending up in landfill once they eventually wear out, meaning all the plastic and metal in those dispensers goes to waste. Our recycling scheme aims to give those materials a second life and, importantly, keep them out of landfill.
“At Prowrap, we’re proud to be a wrapping partner that goes the extra mile to support those working in our industry. This is just our latest step on that journey, and we encourage our distributor partners to join us in our mission to cut unnecessary plastic waste.”
The move is the latest intervention by Prowrap, aimed at reducing its impact on the environment. In recent years, it has launched Ecocling, a recycle-ready PVC-free cling film. It also designs and manufactures its dispensers in the UK, helping to reduce its carbon footprint throughout the supply chain.
The scheme is free to enrol in and is open to any distributor or wholesaler – including those who have not previously worked with Prowrap.
“We want our recycling scheme to have as big an impact as possible,” explained Crowley. “We’re making it available to any distributor who might be looking to reduce their overall impact on the environment and meet their sustainability goals.”
