As part of our Circular Economy Week, we hear from KP as they share how circularity in PET food packaging is already being delivered at industrial scale.

With new European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) targets approaching, the industry faces a critical challenge: collecting, sorting and recycling PET trays back into new food-grade packaging at scale. In this video, kp demonstrates how its Valencia operation is already making this a reality, recycling more than 1 billion PET trays annually and incorporating over 13,000 tonnes of recycled tray material into new products each year.

The video explores the importance of designing packaging for recyclability, the role of Tray Circularity Evaluation Platform (TCEP) certification, and how solutions such as kp MonoSeal® and kp Elite® are helping support a fully circular PET tray-to-tray recycling system. kp also highlights the key actions needed to accelerate progress across Europe, including stronger demand for recycled content, harmonised collection and sorting systems, and continued collaboration across the value chain.
