OMSO, an Italian company with long experience in the decoration and direct-to-object printing market, has enriched its range of screen-printing machines with the new SB021 model.
The new SB021 comes from the market need to have modern machines that are easy to use and attentive to today's hot topics: the reduction of consumption and the reduction of emissions.
SB021 perfectly meets these needs. The machine is equipped with a high-efficiency motor that reduces the energy requirement for its operation by 70%. Furthermore, the adoption of LED lamps for ink drying contributes significantly to the reduction of consumption and emissions. As is known, LED lamps do not produce ozone during their operation, unlike mercury-vapor lamps. The operating power is adjustable and reaching the maximum power requires much less energy than traditional lamps. Another advantage brought by the introduction of LED lamps is the ability to selectively activate the LEDs according to the size of the decoration to dry, reducing consumption without compromising drying efficiency.
The study that OMSO carried out in collaboration with the Industrial Plant Design and Management Laboratory of the UNIMORE University (University of Modena and Reggio) belonging to the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods (DISMI), certified the reduction in consumption of the machine in the various configurations.
The data that emerged is extremely interesting, we are talking about a 70% lower consumption compared to machines that mount mercury-vapor lamps, and an 80% reduction in CO2 released into the environment. Finally, another important aspect from an environmental point of view is the average lifespan of LED lamps, which exceeds the lifespan of traditional lamps by approximately 20 times, and the less impactful disposal at the end of their life.
We want to talk now about the other characteristics of SB021. The number of colours varies from 1 to 3 and it prints on different formats: cylindrical, elliptical, and flat. The servo-assisted movements allow you to print in the same printing station on the 360 degrees of the object, regardless of its shape. The high adjustment precision between the colours guarantees high-quality prints.
The user-friendly operator interface is aimed above all at operators that are new to servo-assisted machines, with a simple and intuitive workflow.
Optimized format change dramatically reduces tooling costs: toolless component changes combined with automated adjustments reduce downtime to just a few minutes.
The choice of reliable and standard components limits production problems caused by the supply difficulties that characterize this period. It is also a guarantee of reliability and availability on the market in the long term, thinking about the life of the machine, for maintenance and future spare parts.
