Hazel 4D, one of the region’s leading packaging consultancies, has welcomed two Leeds MPs in recent weeks - Katie White OBE, MP for Leeds North West, and Alex Sobel, MP for Leeds Central - as part of a growing conversation around SME growth, responsible packaging practices, and the road ahead for UK sustainability regulation.
The visits, held at Hazel 4D’s Horsforth head office and Hazel 4D’s warehouse and dispatch centre, Velocity Point, offered both MPs a behind-the-scenes look at how the business is supporting national supply chains with smarter, more sustainable packaging strategies.
As the UK packaging industry embraces the newly imposed Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, both visits came at a pivotal moment - and provided an opportunity to discuss how local innovators are navigating new legislative and economic landscapes.
Katie White’s visit included a full tour of the company’s Mill House headquarters, including its customer showroom and operational facilities. Meanwhile, Alex Sobel toured Velocity Point, Hazel 4D’s busy warehouse and dispatch hub, where he met with operational staff and saw first-hand how the company delivers efficiency and scale to customers across the UK.
Each MP met with staff across departments and held conversations with Hazel 4D leaders about the challenges facing SMEs today - including the evolving Employment Rights Bill, increasing sustainability expectations, and the complexity of remaining competitive while complying with environmental targets.
“It’s always encouraging to see policymakers take a real interest in the work local businesses are doing on the ground,” said Katie Graham, Sustainability Lead at Hazel 4D. “These visits allowed us to showcase how packaging, when done right, can have a strategic and measurable impact - not just on supply chains, but on carbon reduction and long-term business resilience.”
With an EcoVadis Platinum sustainability rating and clients across retail, logistics, e-commerce, and manufacturing, Hazel 4D continues to lead the way in making packaging smarter, safer, and more sustainable.
As a business built in Yorkshire, Hazel 4D remains proud of its local roots - and committed to driving national change, one pallet at a time.
