MM Pharma & Healthcare Packaging, secondary packaging specialist to the pharmaceutical sector, has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to printed aluminium foil production at its facility in Piacenza, Italy.
With the global printed aluminium foil packaging market projected to reach USD $37 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 4.3% according to Future Market Insights, the company's Italian operation is strategically positioned to meet the specific needs of medium-sized pharmaceutical laboratories requiring high-quality foil solutions.
"For more than three decades, our Piacenza facility has specialized in converting pharma-grade printed aluminium foil to the highest quality standards," said Monica Maschi, Sales Manager & European Key Account at MM Pharma & Healthcare Packaging. "While many larger suppliers focus exclusively on high-volume production, we've developed deep expertise in serving medium-sized pharmaceutical laboratories that require premium quality printed foil in smaller batch sizes. The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly demanding blister packs and push-through closures that provide superior barrier properties against light, moisture and oxygen - areas where aluminium foil excels. Our Italian production capabilities offer significant advantages in responsiveness, customisation and innovation, making our team the ideal partner."
The Piacenza facility operates with an ISO 8 certified cleanroom (Class 100,000), ensuring compliance with stringent pharmaceutical primary packaging standards. This certification guarantees a controlled manufacturing environment with no more than 100,000 particles (0.5 μm) per cubic foot, essential for maintaining the integrity of sensitive pharmaceutical products.
Printed aluminium foil remains a crucial component in pharmaceutical packaging due to its exceptional barrier properties against light, moisture, oxygen and bacteria. Additionally, it provides tamper-evidence capabilities and preserves product efficacy throughout the supply chain.
"Our three decades of experience as foil converters for the pharmaceutical market underlines our long-term commitment to this specialised field" added Maschi. "Through our Italian facility, we offer valuable services that many larger suppliers don't provide, such as variable foil printing and coloured foils. These enhancements not only strengthen packaging security and traceability throughout the supply chain, but also significantly contribute to brand differentiation and recognition. We'll continue to focus on what we do best - providing reliable, high-quality printed aluminium foil solutions for medium-sized orders that combine technical excellence with brand-enhancing features."
