Mainetti, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions, proudly celebrates the five-year anniversary of its flagship facility in Fletcher, North Carolina. Since opening in 2020, the 300,000-square-foot facility has expanded its hanger reuse and recycling capacity dramatically - from a modest 38,000 units per day to nearly 800,000 hangers daily.
Employing 120 people, this high-performing facility demonstrates Mainetti’s ongoing commitment to the circular economy. Over the past five years, the Fletcher team has processed more than 1.09 billion hangers and counting across Mainetti’s return and recycling programs for the fashion retail sector, including contributions to the Hangerloop™ initiative. This number translates to over 80 million pounds of plastic being successfully reused or recycled that might otherwise have ended up in landfills, waterways, or incinerators.
Commenting on the anniversary, Brett Love, Assistant General Manager of Mainetti said: “We’re delighted to celebrate five years of our Fletcher facility opening - a milestone that is made even more meaningful given the challenges we faced from the onset. Launching operations in 2020, at the height of a global pandemic, came with immense uncertainty. Yet, our team rose to the challenge with agility, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to adapt and succeed. Five years on, the growth and impact of the facility - primarily supporting our retail partner, Target - speaks volumes about what we’ve achieved together and our dedication to providing sustainable solutions for our customers and partners.”
In addition to navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fletcher facility faced more troubling times with the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, which caused severe flooding and disrupted operations. Despite the setback, the team came together with extraordinary determination, working around the clock to restore the facility to full operational strength. This moment exemplified the resilient spirit and deep-rooted culture at Mainetti, where employees are more than colleagues - they are united by a shared mission to advance the circular economy through high-quality, sustainable solutions.
“The recovery from Hurricane Helene was a powerful testament to the team’s unwavering commitment - not just to restoring operations at the Fletcher facility, but to upholding the values that define Mainetti as a whole,” said Brett. “It reinforced our deep belief in the strength of unity, resilience, and shared purpose, and we’re incredibly proud of our Fletcher team. This anniversary is a meaningful opportunity to recognize and celebrate their dedication, hard work, and extraordinary spirit.”
This spirit and dedication are further illustrated by the many community-focused initiatives spearheaded and facilitated by the Mainetti USA Fletcher operation. From organizing vital blood drives to supporting local youth sports programs, the team has been an active force for good in the community. They have also proudly sponsored impactful organizations, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, a mentoring program that helps children realize their potential and build their futures. By supporting such programs, the team continues to demonstrate a deep and ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and giving back to the vibrant local community.
As Mainetti approaches its 65th year as a global leader in sustainable packaging - serving retailers and fashion brands across 90 locations in 47 countries on six continents - the five-year anniversary of the Fletcher facility is a powerful reminder that small steps drive meaningful change. Since Mainetti’s founding in 1961 by Romeo, Gianni, Luigi, and Mario Mainetti, the company has remained steadfast in its commitment to customer satisfaction, product excellence, and the principles of the circular economy. Mainetti looks forward to seeing the Fletcher facility continue to thrive as a vital part of its global journey toward a more sustainable future.
