An innovative new device designed to improve efficiency by providing real-time insight into pallet wrapping performance will be on display on stand J50 at the PPMA Show (24-26 September 2024)
Kontrol 4.0 has been developed by leading pallet stability and stretch wrap expert Lindum and has been extensively piloted by a leading multi-national drink and brewing giant.
The small web-based IoT device, described as a “fitness tracker” for pallet wrappers, retrofits to any pallet wrapping machine to provide real-time insight into overall stretch wrap film consumption and wrapper performance. It enables manufacturers to quickly identify and correct inefficiencies with a view to minimising machine downtime, reducing waste, and maximising productivity.
Kontrol 4.0 can be accessed remotely via a user-friendly interface that allows managers to monitor operations and make necessary adjustments from anywhere at the touch of a button. The dashboard provides an immediate overview of consumption, costs, and CO2 emissions per pallet. In addition, events such as film breaks and wrapping data outside the individually defined tolerances are highlighted.
Rick Sellars, Sales Manager at Lindum says: “We are thrilled to be attending the PPMA Show to showcase our Kontrol 4.0 technology. Information and data are key to manufacturing success and that’s exactly what Kontrol 4.0 delivers. Similar to how a fitness tracker works, it detects the health and performance of your stretch wrapper to achieve optimum packaging results.
“With the implementation of the Plastic Packaging Tax, more and more companies are seeking ways to make palletising more efficient and cost-effective. By using this device, packaging managers can monitor the efficiency of their pallet wrapping operations and identify areas where improvements can be made to make the process more sustainable. Kontrol 4.0 can also help ensure that the film is being stretched correctly to minimise costs and prevent pallet stability issues.”
Kontrol 4.0 is available now and can be purchased directly from Lindum. Based in Grimsby, Lindum specialises in pallet stability and stretch film to help companies save money, reduce plastic, improve packaging performance, and reduce CO2 emissions.
