Bahrain continues to set industry benchmarks in sustainability, demonstrating a strong commitment to reducing environmental impact through innovative packaging solutions. In February, the company celebrated more than 10 years of continued growth, marking this milestone with a special ceremony attended by His Excellency Abdulla Bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce.
Since its commissioning in 2012, JBF Bahrain has established itself as a leading manufacturer of Biaxially Oriented PET Films (BOPET). Equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities and a manufacturing capacity of 90ktpa, the site produces a wide range of film specifications for applications including packaging, photovoltaic technology, electrical insulation, labelling, and flat screens. Strengthened by its collaboration with JBF Belgium, JBF Bahrain has emerged as a key producer of high-quality chemically recycled PCR film, reinforcing its commitment to global sustainability initiatives and advancing environmentally responsible production practices.
JBF Bahrain, strategically located within Bahrain’s Free Trade International Investment Park, continues to set industry benchmarks in sustainability with a proven track record of reducing environmental impact through innovative packaging solutions. The company remains focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling materials by downgauging packaging films up to 6.5µ, significantly cutting material usage. Longer reels, such as 62,500 meters for 12µ films, contribute to efficiency and waste reduction. JBF Bahrain also offers returnable packaging concepts, including iron-side fitments and iron-core plugs, while recycling between 30% and 90% of post-consumer recycled (PCR) films. Additionally, the company ensures 100% recycling of plain and metallized waste for captive use.
Recognizing its outstanding sustainability efforts, JBF Bahrain has been awarded the prestigious 'Green Factory Label.' It is one of only 30 factories in the Kingdom to receive this recognition, a key initiative under the Government of Bahrain’s Industrial Sector Strategy (2022-2026) aimed at fostering a more advanced and sustainable industrial sector.
The 10th year celebration event served as a testament to JBF Bahrain’s position as a leader in the packaging industry. The presence of the Minister of Industry and Commerce underscored the government’s recognition of the company’s contributions to the nation’s industrial sector and its alignment with Bahrain’s vision for a sustainable and advanced manufacturing landscape.
