Abigail Jones, an engineering apprentice at i2r Packaging Solutions Ltd, has been recognised for her outstanding achievements in the Lloyds Banking Group SME Apprentice of the Year 2023 Awards. The prestigious event, sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group, celebrates individuals who have demonstrated remarkable growth, added significant value to their respective companies, and become strong advocates for apprenticeships in their communities.
At the age of 21, Abigail (Abi), was nominated earlier in the year for the award. Although she didn't secure the top spot, her selection as one of the final four candidates is a remarkable accomplishment in itself.
Abi is studying for a Level 3 Engineering Technician in Mechatronics qualification at Telford College - a 48-month course that covers a broad range of activities to ensure plant and equipment run to the required standard of efficiency and safety.
Her passion for engineering was sparked by her family, particularly her father, who is a civil engineer. Embracing her apprenticeship at i2r, she has found her niche and thoroughly enjoys her work. She looks forward to completing her apprenticeship and applying the knowledge she has acquired to enhance her professional journey.
Beyond her dedication to her career, Abi has diverse interests. She actively participates in football, playing for Shifnal Town FC Development, and values spending quality time with friends. As a hobby, she takes pleasure in modifying her car, showcasing her creativity and mechanical aptitude.
James Knight, i2r’s managing director, praised Abi's achievement, stating: "Abi's journey exemplifies the significance of apprenticeships and serves as an inspiration to others striving for excellence in their chosen fields. She is a valuable asset to our company and we are absolutely thrilled to celebrate her success.”
