Paris Packaging Week marked the first major European industry event since the integration of Sonoco’s metal and rigid paper packaging activities, bringing together the former Eviosys portfolio with Sonoco’s innovative rigid paper packaging activities, under one unified business. Sonoco revealed its new integrated offer and combined expertise across rigid paper packaging, aerosol cans, promotional packaging, food cans and vacuum closures to ADF visitors, long familiar with Sonoco Metal Packaging portfolio of aerosol cans.
Francesco Giannolo, Vice President, Commercial Sonoco Consumer Packaging EMEA/APAC comments: “Paris Packaging Week was an important milestone. It was the first opportunity to introduce our new, unified Consumer Packaging business, working across materials to support our customers’ ambitions. Giannolo continues: “on the stand, Sonoco showcased a broad range of aerosols and promotional packaging solutions spanning rigid paper formats, metal gift sets with high-impact decorative finishes such as hot stamping, particularly relevant for the beauty, cosmetic, premium tea and spirits markets. We help brands differentiate combining shelf impact and circularity, getting ready for PPWR with the right fit-for-purpose packaging. We accompany brands, in every market, from the very start: from trends analysis, life cycle assessments, to in-house design, prototyping, colour matching and local production – we collaborate with brands to make a difference on the shelf, help them stay ahead of the regulation and recruit new consumers.”
Located in the ADF area, we showcased our international range of aerosol cans, including the latest innovation: G3, manufactured in the US. This 2piece steel aerosol can combines the advantages of steel with the appearance of what you can usually find in aluminium aerosol cans. It features an integrated dome and no side seams, withstanding up to 15 bars of pressure. “Our steel aerosol cans contribute to a strong circular material loop,” says Giannolo. “Steel is the most recycled packaging material in Europe – with rates of up to 80.5%, and it is also produced with up to 67% recycled content. At Sonoco we take this even further, we’re enormously proud to champion responsible, high-performance metal packaging”
Finally, Sonoco also highlighted its expertise in supporting its customers in compliance and sustainable production, including navigating PPWR and EPR challenges.
