AWARD-winning packaging manufacturer and supplier Go-Pak Group has unveiled its new patented fibre-based Paper Cutlery range, setting a new sustainable standard for the food-to-go and takeaway industry – designed to outperform existing alternatives.
Conceptualised by Go-Pak Group and developed with its sister company, Thai Paper Company Limited – one of ASEAN’s largest integrated pulp and paper producers, and backed by parent group SCG Packaging (SCGP) – this patented design showcases the innovation that emerges when Asia’s largest vertically integrated packaging company unites its expertise.
Alan Sterrey, Global Brands Manager at Go-Pak Group, said: “We’re incredibly proud to launch this product after 18 months of intensive research, rigorous testing, and collaborative innovation. It’s a true reflection of what’s possible within the SCGP Group, developing sustainable solutions that genuinely make a difference.”
The innovative range delivers a more comfortable eating experience – smoother texture, stronger performance, and no aftertaste - tackling some of the biggest pain points for both consumers and operators. It has already gained industry recognition, winning an award earlier this year at the HOFEX – HOREC Asia 2025 Innovation Awards, and being shortlisted for the Consumer Convenience Award at the 2025 UK Packaging Awards.
Before the UK banned single-use plastics in 2023, England alone used an estimated 4.25 billion pieces of disposable cutlery each year. Since the ban, the shift toward sustainable alternatives has become a major trend in 2025, with businesses and consumers seeking replacements for this massive volume.
Made from responsibly sourced paper, each cutlery piece is constructed from multiple layers of compressed material for maximum rigidity and durability. The result is a product that feels comfortable in the hand, holds its shape with both hot and cold foods, and delivers both a neutral taste experience and a smooth mouth-feel.
Recyclable at dedicated facilities and made from responsibly sourced materials, the Paper Cutlery matches – and even exceeds – the strength and performance of market alternatives. It represents a step forward for a sector under pressure to serve customers sustainably, without compromise.
Lynn Creighton, Group Product Technical Manager at Go-Pak Group, said: “Consumers want recyclable options, but they also want them to perform well. Our new paper range delivers on both fronts – it’s strong and comfortable, with a smooth eating experience, and is recyclable at dedicated facilities – giving customers and caterers the best of both worlds.”
The range’s design also delivers operational benefits. Each piece is engineered to stack seamlessly, improving storage and handling efficiency in fast-paced foodservice environments. For operators looking to boost brand visibility, Go-Pak also offers custom embossing and food-safe printed branding options.
Lynn added: “This is about proving that responsibly sourced and recyclable products don’t have to compromise on quality.”
