The global packaging design agency welcomes back a strong strategic leader with two decades of brand and retail expertise spanning agency and client-side roles
Equator Design has appointed Marjorie Murphy as Senior Client Service Director. Murphy returns to the business, having previously held dual roles as VP Client Service UK/IE/Australia and Global Strategy Director.
Murphy brings a unique perspective gained from two decades working with global retailers and brands across commercial, operational, and strategic roles, advising on everything from brand and strategy to creative delivery.
During her previous tenure, Murphy played a central role in developing Equator’s strategic proposition, expanding its US business, and building strong client partnerships that delivered results even during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since leaving the business in 2022, Murphy has worked as a self-employed brand strategy consultant with brands in the UK and US. In her new role at Equator, she will focus on ensuring client satisfaction, growing accounts profitably across EMEA and North America, developing both internal teams and client partnerships.
“I’ve always been really passionate about this business and what makes it special,” said Murphy on her decision to rejoin Equator. “You can feel and see the creativity in every studio and in every member of the team. Now, with the business coming together under Propelis, there’s a huge opportunity for further growth and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Murphy’s approach centres on ensuring Equator is an “irreplaceable partner”. “For me, that means understanding our clients wholly and anticipating both challenges and opportunities,” she explains.
“Brands are under pressure to evolve in response to changing consumer behaviour and market trends, but they need to do it in a way that feels authentic and be congruent. Our role is to bring that outside perspective, helping them stay fresh and exciting, while protecting the DNA of who they are.”
On the appointment, Global Creative Director & SVP Business Development, Michael Duffy commented: “Marjorie’s experience means she can see challenges from multiple angles. That, combined with her natural curiosity about the market makes her an invaluable member of the team. She’s already slotted right back in as though she never left, and we’re excited about what we’ll achieve together over the coming years.”
