THE opportunity for third parties to take away the headache of placing and managing customer orders and instead use a seamless, integrated system has meant a major boost for one of the UK’s top digital print companies.
WTTB has recently launched its own API, which sits behind client’s own websites and then processes the order and artwork information which goes directly to the printer for production and fulfilment.
And the success of the soft launch of the new service – which includes dispatching the finished products direct to the customer in white label packaging – has so far been a huge success and led to a surge of interest.
One of the main points of interest in the new WTTB app is the sheer range of products which are now available, giving those who run an e-commerce business the opportunity to expand their offering.
APIs are widely used but these are often limited to selected products, while WTTB has ensured that their integrated system is available for more than 140 products.
For existing customers – or anyone wanting to delve into e-commerce for the first time – the new offering links with their existing website or shopfront, where they create their own ranges, pricing and branding.
The WTTB API links with their website and does all of the behind-the-scenes work, while they retain their relationship and offering with their own buyers.
The new development means that WTTB customers can expand their business, which to the outside world makes them a much more attractive seller.
Michael Bartlett, Head of Operations at WTTB, said customer reaction to date has exceeded all expectations.
“The response we’ve had so far has been really encouraging,” he said.
“I’ve spoken to a number of customers since we introduced the API and one of the things that keeps coming up is the breadth of the product range.
Being able to access more than 140 WTTB products through a single integration gives our customers a huge amount of flexibility in what they can offer through their own websites.
“What’s particularly encouraging is that customers can immediately see the commercial opportunity. They can potentially broaden their product offering without having to invest in additional production capability, while keeping control of their own website, pricing, brand and customer relationship.
“We’ve also had some really positive feedback around the integration itself and the support behind it. The number and quality of conversations we’ve had from what was deliberately a fairly soft launch has probably been the most encouraging thing of all.”
