The AMI Stretch & Shrink Film Conference in Málaga brought together major international stretch film producers and key industry stakeholders, offering a valuable platform for discussion and exchange. COLINES® was pleased to contribute to the conversation by presenting a range of its latest developments.
Among the solutions showcased, SAFE TRACK®, developed in partnership with NO.EL.® (the sister company, part of COLINES® Group since 2022), attracted particular interest. The system addresses a critical but often underestimated issue: pallet tampering and theft. It is estimated that around 1% of pallets worldwide, which means approximately 150 million units, are compromised every year. Traditional countermeasures, such as colored stretch film, provide limited protection, as they can be easily replicated or replaced without leaving evidence.
SAFE TRACK® introduces a different concept. A patented mechanical pattern is embedded directly into the film, making any interference immediately visible. From an industrial standpoint, an additional advantage is that the solution does not entail extra production costs. The technology has already been validated in offline configurations and is currently undergoing advanced testing for in-line integration on COLINES® extrusion lines.
The conference also marked an important moment for the ALLRollEX® cast line for stretch film production by COLINES®. Both ExxonMobil and Saica included in their presentations a case study about the high tenacity power stretch film with 35% PCR content, launched jointly at last K in Düsseldorf and developed in partnership with COLINES®. Integrating high levels of PCR into stretch film while maintaining performance remains a key challenge for the industry, as increased recycled content often leads to breakage during high-speed application, with consequent downtime and material waste.
That kind of stretch film, operating at a typical 50% pre-stretch, demonstrates that these limitations can be effectively addressed. As highlighted during the presentations, achieving such results requires advanced, high-efficiency extrusion lines combined with specific process expertise, including features such as the edge folding system integrated into COLINES® equipment.
