The Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA) is celebrating a milestone for Do It With Cans (DIWC), its consumer- facing campaign promoting DIY and craft projects using products in metal packaging, as new influencer- led blogs result in a 78% increase in website visitors.
Canny Crafts and DIY
Launched in April, the Canny Crafts and DIY Campaign has tapped into the growing popularity of eco-conscious crafting and upcycling. Featuring fresh content from influencers Alex (@lifewithmythree), Debs (@bangonstyle), and Emma (@emmmorris), alongside returning favourites Cassie (@cassiefairy) and Nigel (@diydaddy), the campaign has expanded DIWC’s reach and impact.
The blog posts included tutorials such as ‘Brighten up your child’s room with colourful animal storage jars’ by Debs, ‘Little Tikes Cosy Coupe glow up’ by Emma, and ‘Kids DIY pot painting’ by Cassie.
The influencers bring their unique style attracting a distinct audience and through their activity are showcasing the versatility and sustainability of metal packaging in their bespoke projects. From tools to finished designs, the influencers highlight how metal packaging supports mindful crafting through its durability and recyclability.
Emma Morris, who contributed to the DIWC campaign, says: “By using spray paint in metal packaging, you’re choosing a product that’s more sustainable and better for storage due to its durability. The influencer blogs not only featured on the DIWC website but were also used to create Pinterest posts to drive further engagement. Pinterest is a key platform for DIWC and the Pins have played a role in attracting visitors back to the webpage. This is highlighted in the 78% increase in website visitors as well as a 77% rise in page views, compared to the same period in the previous year.
Each blog champions creative reuse and upcycling, proving that stylish crafting can also be environmentally responsible. It also showcases how metal packaging is ideal for DIY and craft products thanks to its durability, its ability to give 100% protection to contents and its recyclability. With its continued success, DIWC reinforces the message that creativity and recycling go hand in hand and that metal packaging offers a reliable and eco-conscious solution for the modern crafter or DIYer.
