This initiative plays a key role in meeting climate targets and enhancing the global competitiveness of Swedish industry.

Electrifying the industry and reducing fossil emissions are important for us at Billerud, which is why we welcome the expansion of fossil-free electricity. Currently, approximately 80 percent of the energy used globally is fossil-based. Billerud is actively working to reduce fossil emissions and meet its Science Based Targets (SBTi), with the goal of decreasing the company’s fossil emissions by 42 percent by 2030.The initiative was launched in the spring of 2024 by Alfa Laval, Boliden, SKF, Stora Enso, and the Volvo Group as equal shareholders. In the fall of 2024, additional equal shareholders joined, including Billerud, ABB, AFRY, Alleima, Epiroc, Hitachi Energy, Höganäs, SAAB, SSAB, Södra, Vectura, and Volvo Cars.
