Refusing to be part of the plastic problem

Refusing to be part of the plastic problem, Ocean 52's No Plastic Water chose its packaging with sustainability as the main objective. Aluminum was chosen for its many sustainable benefits, including true circularity through an infinitely recyclable substrate, with well-established recycling channels globally and value in the market. The product utilizes Trivium Packaging's Pac Round 500ml bottle which contains no excess materials and is directly printed, reducing the use of labels or other materials on the bottle. It is lightweight, easy to recycle for consumers and clearly states it is 100% recyclable, containing appropriate recycling symbols. The package size, sustainability, and resealable features are attractive to its target consumers. The resealability of the bottles with the ability to refill & reuse (via a larger 38mm opening) helps further to protect the environment and helps to reduce single-use containers. It is fully shatterproof, providing a level of safety to the consumer, so even when dropped on a hard surface, it will not break. Both cap and bottle are mono-material making it extremely easy for the consumer to recycle in the right bin. The bottle was produced in a BRC packaging-certified facility, has a tamper-evident seal, and underwent shelf stability testing with the filler before production. Due to very close cooperation with the slug supplier, any scrap and/or material recovery is dealt with in a very efficient way and makes it back to the aluminum mills and back to the slug supplier. The supplier is in the same town as the manufacturing facility, minimizing costs and carbon emissions associated with shipping and transportation. The filling was completed in Les Pyrénées, located between the manufacturing facility in Beaurepaire and the brand, further optimizing the supply chain. Ocean52 is known for being the first European company to claim a real recyclability rate following a measurement methodology developed under the supervision of DRIADE and UNESCO chair of life cycle and climate change. This analysis will also be carried out for this new bottle. Ocean 52 is a certified B corp with the highest score in the food sector industry in Spain. Their decisions and choices are supervised and approved by a group of ocean lovers including marine biologists and ocean activists. 52% of the company benefits are allocated to ocean protection. Ocean 52 encourages responsible consumption by suggesting consumers consider drinking tap water before buying. The bottle utilizes a wide opening 'ROPP38' for ease of use on the go, and for ease of refilling. The design is made with a Morse code printed that says "no plastic ocean." It's the distress signal that the ocean is sending to humans. A study is being carried out to know its usage and the first signs suggest that the bottle is refilled several times which will reduce waste and CO2 footprint.
