GEW’s renowned ArcLED hybrid system

AeroLED is a high power system for full cure, printing, packaging, coating and converting applications up to 60cm wide. In an AeroLED system, air is extracted by a single centralised fan sited away from the press. There is no need for integrated fans or electronics in the individual lampheads, which eliminates the high pitched noise and risk of failure that these bring. AeroLED features the same LED chassis and core components as GEW's LeoLED lamphead, for proven reliability. As with LeoLED, the lamphead has tough watertight seals to protect the LED modules from ingress and to make cleaning easy and safe. Every aspect of the design has been carefully considered to deliver robust performance and long-term reliability. AeroLED is also ArcLED compatible, meaning package printers with GEW mercury arc cassettes installed can upgrade to GEW's LED system with minimum effort and downtime.

AeroLED's efficient optical design enables the lowest energy usage of all GEW products. This delivers energy savings of up to 70% when compared to a conventional UV arc system, offering packaging companies a sustainable UV curing option. In addition to offering greatly reduced operating costs, printers upgrading to LED are able to free up a significant level of mains capacity, putting less pressure on the electrical grid. Furthermore, AeroLED's air cooling system, which is regulated by ducting and a thermostatic switch, has the option to duct waste heat outside a factory when temperatures are warm and duct it inside a factory when temperatures are cold, lessening the reliance on heating. These factors make AeroLED a leading candidate for package printers looking to meet carbon neutral goals and minimise energy output.

Customer testimonial by Iñigo Pons Director General, Ingo Group S.A. - Using AeroLED on a Bobst M1 press. "Ingo Group has worked with GEW LED systems for many years now, and our trust in this technology is reflected in the fact that since buying our first LED curing system in 2019, we no longer buy new mercury lamp curing systems." When the AeroLED air-cooled system was introduced by GEW, it was an automatic choice for us due to its simpler engineering without the need for a chiller, its reduced power consumption, and its lower overall investment cost. "As GEW knew our Bobst press so well, the installation was quick and seamless, the press was up and running in no time. The curing process is fast and precise... the performance of AeroLED is equal to that of GEW's earlier water-cooled systems, even when the air in our factory has been above 35°C recently. Also our press operators like to work on the M1 because of AeroLED's quiet and reliable operation." As a result of this success, Ingo Group have already invested in a second AeroLED system for a new press being delivered in August.
